Stain Removal

Specialist stain treatment in Penicuik, Midlothian and South Edinburgh — wine, food, mud, makeup and unknown marks assessed on site.

Stain work starts with the right Prochem spotter, then — when you book a full clean — our full vacuum, pre-spray, agitation and Puzzi extraction sequence so no sticky residue remains.

Professional cleaning — Stain Removal

Why we clean this way

DIY scrubbing often sets stains or spreads dye. We match Prochem spotters to the mark and fibre, agitate carefully, then rinse-extract with the Puzzi. If the stain is permanent (bleach, some inks), we tell you before charging for unrealistic expectations.

How your clean works

Dry vacuum, Prochem pre-spray, agitation matched to carpet pile or fabric, then hot water extraction with the Puzzi. Optional finish add-ons on request — deodouriser, stain conservation and allergen elimination.

  1. Stain assessment & fibre check

We identify stain type, age, previous DIY attempts and carpet/upholstery fibre before choosing chemistry.

Why: Wrong spotter can fix a stain permanently or bleach colour — assessment avoids that.

  2. Prochem specialist spot treatment

Targeted Prochem spotters and rinses are applied and worked gently into the mark with appropriate dwell time.

Why: Breaks down the specific soil (tannin, protein, oil etc.) without overwetting the backing.

  3. Dry vacuum — Kärcher CV 30/1

We vacuum the affected area and surrounding carpet or fabric first to remove dry soil, hair, grit and dust before any moisture is used.

Why: Loose dirt removed upfront lets pre-spray work on the fibres and keeps extraction water cleaner.

  4. Prochem pre-spray (matched to fibre and soiling)

A Prochem pre-spray suited to the wider area when a full clean is booked is applied evenly and given dwell time to break down oils and sticky soils.

Why: Correct chemistry matters — the wrong product can leave residue, odour or damage on wool, synthetics or delicate weaves.

  5. Agitation — Sebo DUO on carpet pile

The Sebo DUO is worked through the carpet pile on the stain zone and blend-out area, helping the pre-spray reach into the yarns before rinsing.

Why: Mechanical agitation on pile is standard in professional carpet cleaning; it lifts embedded soil that spray alone cannot reach.

  6. Rinse & extraction — Kärcher Puzzi 10/2 (30/1 tool)

We rinse with a Prochem solution at the right pH for the item being treated, using the Puzzi 10/2 and 30/1 head to spray, work lightly where needed, and vacuum dirty solution back out.

Why: Hot water extraction flushes suspended soil and detergent away. Fibres should feel rinsed, not sticky or soapy when dry.

  7. Optional finish add-ons (on request)

After extraction, when fibres are clean and moisture-controlled, we can quote optional Prochem treatments. Nothing is applied unless you ask — we confirm each add-on before we use it.

Why: Finish treatments work best on a properly rinsed surface. Upsells are always optional and priced before application.

    • DeodouriserFresh finish after the clean, including a cherry fragrance option — ideal when you want a noticeable scent once drying is underway.
    • Stain conservationFibre protection to help guard against future spills and everyday soiling, so professional results last longer between visits.
    • Allergen eliminationTreatment focused on reducing allergens such as dust mites and pollen residues — popular in asthma-sensitive homes and pet households.
